What's Reader's Workshop?
Reader’s workshop allows students to gain the benefits of reading by self-selection, self-pacing, and time spent reading and sharing books. The teacher demonstrates how to explore literature and supports student-led discussion groups through daily mini-lessons. Students gain the knowledge to understand literature on multiple levels and respond to it thoughtfully.
What is a mini-lesson?A mini-lesson is a short, teacher-led discussion of a single reading concept. There are three guiding principles to the mini-lesson approach: Direct Instruction, Guided Practice & Independent Practice
